Komodo National Park Dive Sites

German Flag South Komodo | A southern Komodo favorite with wild currents, rich color, and fast action.
8.8100°S, 119.6890°E
Named after a large soft coral that once displayed the red, black, and gold of the German flag, this dramatic slope dive is one of South Komodo’s signature sites. Located along the exposed coast of Rinca Island, German Flag is known for its fast-moving water, deep ridges, and incredible biomass. It’s a dive that starts calm and builds momentum — often turning into an exhilarating ride through one of the park’s most vibrant southern stretches.
Best suited for advanced divers, this site offers everything from coral-covered slopes to encounters with sharks and rays in the deeper blue. The terrain and conditions change quickly, so every dive at German Flag is a little different — and often unforgettable.
